April Update

Spring has Sprung!

We are moving forward with the latest routine, our new payment options and we just re-launched our website with an updated look. Please check it out. I want to thank all of you for your patience through the transition as we put these significant changes into place.  I really appreciate the understanding and supportive words during the process. I am also forever grateful to the teachers Amy, Carmel and Liv for working with me as we made these changes and for their undeniably excellent teaching; and to Heather, for juggling every single thing that gets thrown at her and learning  all about the studio and its operations at the same time. Now we are moving forward in the next gear!

The latest routine  continues to challenge and I see progress being made by all. As I observe our clients, and in my own work, I notice that sometimes the mindfulness aspect of Pilates work manifests into a cerebral workout which can lead to a lack of  trust in our individual physical capabilities. Yes, Pilates (and especially JL versions) requires thoughtfulness and attention to what is going on in the body, working the core, (and counting to 10!); however, balance needs to be maintained between mind and body.

Where is your physical core? The word core is thrown around so much in the fitness world  and I’m often amazed at what people think their core is. I would like to share my understanding and personal work of what working one’s physical  core means to me. Many of you who work with me regularly hear me direct you to “assemble”. I love this word and I believe it gets right to the point. To assemble the core is to engage the back (Rhomboids with scapula down), the abdominal wall and the inner thighs (adductors);  and bringing these three areas to a central point of energy  and control.  Simplify and Assemble!

The teachers and myself really enjoy our time with each of you. It gives me personal joy and a pride to see the friendships that have been built among clients; the care, support and friendship that teachers and clients share; and as I embark on doing a little redecorating (nothing too drastic) I take a deep breath, smile and take another step forward.

Let your loved ones  know that you love them. Cherish.

My very best to you all.

March Update

February went by quickly and the changes we are putting in place are beginning to take shape and help the studio work more efficiently. We will continue to stay attentive and work towards continual improvement.

I have received wonderful and complimentary feedback on the new routine we introduced this month. The teachers have worked extremely hard at putting together an intelligent, challenging, and productive program for you. Pilates training requires thoughtful attention and full body awareness. I encourage all of you to approach your workouts in this manner as I know you will find greater benefits and depth in the work. As always, the teachers are there to assist and give correction. I hope you can share in my appreciation of our team at JLBC: Amy, Carmel, Liv, Heather and myself. Heather has worked extremely hard at tidying up our accounts and helping me take care of the business behind the scenes. We are still working out a few kinks but once we have completed carry overs from memberships and get everyone in the routine of packages, things will be working very nicely . If you have any problems with MindBody Online or questions about your account in general, please contact Heather right away. If you plan on being away, you can take yourself off the schedule online or contact Heather and let her know.

We are currently making some user friendly changes to the website that will be ready to launch soon – so check it out in a couple of weeks.

We are offering the Movement for the Soul class on Monday at 12.30 – a movement class for everyone (no dance experience necessary!) and Stretch class on Wednesdays at 12.30. I invite you to try them for free next week, March 10th and 12th by signing up online!

My thanks to you all, loyal long timers and our most welcome newer clients. It is a pleasure working with each of you; helping you achieve your optimum well being.

Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter (@JLBCPilates), like us on Facebook, and add your thoughtful reviews to Yelp! We love the positive “plugs”!

My best to you always . Enjoy the moments .

February Update

I am excited for the coming months as we implement some of our changes at the the studio. Julian would share with me how much he cared for and loved his clients and teaching staff, his ” Angels” as he referred to them. I now understand first hand those feelings he described. I too feel connected and a deep care for everyone that passes through the studio doors on a weekly basis. Amy, Carmel , Liv and Heather are truly exceptional people. They excel at what they do for JLBC and are simply awesome women – for and to whom I am very grateful. I believe most of our current clients have met Heather Werner by now; either in person or through emails. She has been in the studio all week to say hello and be available for questions as we finish up the transition to our new pricing system. Starting next week, she will usually be in the studio on Monday and Friday mornings and will always be accessible via email should you need anything.

With the new class packs, we are also offering two new classes! Movement for the Soul on Mondays at 12:30pm with me and a Stretch Class on Wednesdays at 12:30pm taught by me and Carmel. Both these classes come out of your class packs.

We also are actively updating JL Body Conditioning, Inc.’s Facebook (JL Body Conditioning) and Twitter (@JLBCPilates). Like us! Tweet us! And, as always, feel free to share your experience with JLBC on Yelp and Google Local. We need you to help us thrive! One last technology bit – MindBodyOnline now has a free app for your phone called MindBody Connect that you can link to your account and reserve a class space and see your schedule straight from your phone. If you are not savvy with social media or apps on your phone – ask Heather and she will happily help you.

I’m so happy to be moving forward with the studio. I thank our continually loyal clients for staying by Julian’s side as he battled his cancer and for being by my side as I journey forward. I welcome and thank those of you who have recently rejoined us and we will all do our very best to provide you with the very best quality and care in your study and practice of JL Body Conditioning Pilates and exercise and well being.

I’m traveling most weekends this month with our daughter, Sam, as she auditions for colleges, but I will be around the studio throughout the week. In the meantime, I am confident that Amy, Carmel, Liv, and Heather will take good care of you.

Take the time to tell those you love how much they mean to you. They are our greatest gifts.

My best to all of you,
